FLATWOODS, Ky. — The Oaks Golf Course’s scorecards billed it as “Kentucky’s best-kept secret!” Joe R. Pyle is hoping to get the secret out by Feb. 7.

That’s the date The Oaks Golf Community is up for sale at auction. It’s composed of the 18-hole, par-72 course, as well as 25 ready-to-build lots for houses, a 68-acre and 15-acre tracts for development and a 482-acre wooded tract.

The course and parcels are offered individually and as a package.

Pyle, the auctioneer, declined to reveal the asking price, citing company policy. He did say he believes the auction will be successful.

“It needs to be sold. They’re planning on selling it,” Pyle said. “They’re not gonna sell it for $100,000, but we feel confident. We don’t take these assignments if they’re not sellable.

“There’s been some inquiries, and I think it’ll make some people some very good buys.”

The course, designed by Michael Hurdzan, opened in 1995 as The Oaks Golf Club, a semi-private club located in an up-scale subdivision outside Flatwoods. It later transitioned to a public course and in November 2012 was re-christened as The Oaks Golf Course.
