NOVEMBER IS HERE!

It’s a wonderful day to be in our community! Hard to believe that November is here. Leaves are falling and holidays are just around the corner. The Alliance is entering one of our busiest times of the year.  With Winter Wonderland of Lights beginning in just a few short weeks and the activities of the season, there is plenty of opportunity to see why this community celebrates like no other in Kentucky.

The lights are going up in the park as I type today. Soon the Santa House will be ready to receive our special guest and children from around the region. It is a glorious time to be home for the holidays. It is also a great time to highlight our local businesses. I noticed this week Braidy Industry posters supporting local businesses. In the next few weeks Ashland in Motion will be hosting Shop local events. The Alliance asks that each one of you think about how you can support our local business community and when you do you will find out how special this community really is and just what we have to offer.

We hosted two ribbon cuttings this week, each, of which offers you opportunities for special gifts for the holidays. On Thursday, in the Ashland Town Center, American Eagle & Aeries opened their doors to a great crowd. Our mall is a great partner of the community. It provides shopping, dining, and a wonderful place for people to come together in all kinds of weather for opportunities that doesn’t exist in many communities our size. American Eagle was one of the most requested stores by local shoppers of the mall.

Today we welcomed Gillum Drug to Ashland.  Gillum Drug is a small locally owned family pharmacy devoted to providing wonderful customer service experience. They carry all the over- the-counter medications you might need, wonderful seasonal decor, specialized skin care products, Creek Bottom Candles, and jewelry. They also offer allergy shots and all immunizations including Flu, Shingles, Pneumonia, Hepatitis, and travel vaccines. No appointment is needed. This business is another example of patients, community, and family coming together for quality care and service.

November is a transitional time for the region and the business community. Think about our local shops and how, collectively, we support each other. If it is a battery, hardware or clothing this community has it for you and great service to boot!

We are proud to be here and support you, the business community. For 103 years we have helped build what is here and offered to the world what is special about our home. Thank you and enjoy the season.
