Hello from the desk of the Alliance. It’s nice to start this week’s message with a positive note. In the next week and a half our economy will start to come back to a new sense of normal. It is still important to stress social distancing and wearing personal protection equipment but, we are getting started.

I scheduled a haircut today.  I never thought I would be so happy to be able to sit down and get what I have left professionally cut.  I may have saved a few dollars with my back porch haircut. However, it’s time to get going again.  I hope each one of you has a favorite business or a special place that you are looking forward to visiting.  It will be important for us to get back out there and support our local businesses!

I mentioned last week that the Alliance was working with our partners on a plan to restart our local economy.  We are working with our local cities and both Boyd and Greenup Counties to assist our local business community.  We are also going to work on spreading the word on what Northeast Kentucky offers for new companies looking for expansion.  New supply chains and on shoring will be opportunities for our communities.  We have seen what happens when we are reliant on outside countries and don’t control what we need to survive in this new world.

It is time to get going. We are here with our new website that shares what is open and how to access the services and support your company needs, and in person to help you and your business get going and build a new normal for our community.  I, for one, am ready.  Bring it on…
