70 YEARS AND COUNTING!!

I have been writing my Friday reports for a couple years now. I try to highlight activity of the Alliance and good news of our business community that makes a difference in your community. This week I would like to focus our attention on a long-standing business in our community, Don’s Men’s Shop. This Saturday will mark 70 years of business.  Since 1949, Don and Betty have ran the shop, until Don passed away. Since 2012 Betty continues to work six days a week providing what our community has known all their lives, tuxedos and men’s wear.

I think everyone has a story they can relate to Don’s. Just last year I needed a tux for our Annual Dinner with, of course, a one day turn around. Don’s made it happen and it fit perfectly. It means something when you can count on someone. When you know they will do it right – today, tomorrow and or the next time you need it.

Don’s will be hosting a radio remote on Saturday from 12:30-2:30 with food, cake, and specials for all. There is something to be said for a well-dressed man. Maybe I can learn something myself.

Couple other items of interest. First, it’s time for Community Leadership Applications. This program is perfect for your up and coming leadership group of your business, to see firsthand what makes this a great community and how each of us can make it even better. Feel free to contact the Ashland Alliance Office for an application.

Final thought of the day and it’s a big one! Save the date – October 5th is the Ashland Alliance Annual Meeting and Regional Celebration. Last year nearly 1,000 of you heard the news and direction for the year and going forward. This year we will be in downtown Ashland and will highlight growth, development and change that is driving our economy. I will have more details soon!

Thank you for the chance to help build our community.  For 103 years, the Alliance has been a partner for you, your business and for all.
