24 Days and Counting
Each Friday I have the pleasure of recapping the work and activity of the Ashland Alliance. This Friday is no exception, other than sitting down at my computer today, I realized it is only 24 days until the Alliance holds the celebration it has had since its creation. Our Annual Meeting is being held November 20th. I should not be surprised that as of yesterday we had already sold 39 tables of 10! There is a strong possibility we will sell out! This event featuring Governor Bevin and Craig Bouchard will be a great evening highlighting what is happening in our area and what is to come. We are pleased to announce that other companies that have chosen northeast Kentucky for new facilities and expansions are joining the celebration as well. Wright Mix-Materials Solutions, Steel of West Virginia and the proud new owners of the former the Ashland Plaza Hotel, WB Hospitality, will be our guest for the evening.
It has been a great week. The Alliance had the opportunity to celebrate Members Choice Credit Union opening of their branch location at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital yesterday evening. There was a great crowd to enjoy the networking opportunity and see the new branch. Every single Business After Hours we hold, I have learned something about one of our local businesses.
Today was the 38th Annual Community Leadership Development Graduation Luncheon. We had 40 individuals that completed the 8-week course on leadership and community. Developing leaders is a core component of economic growth and a mainstay of the Alliance over the years. The guest speaker for today was Brigadier General Blaine Holt Executive Vice President of Braidy Industries. I personally want to thank the CLD Planning Committee and our Co-Chairs of the program Lloyd Keyser and Matt Perkins.
One additional point of growth and news in the area. Planet Fitness has been using our conference room at the Alliance interviewing for new jobs in the area at their new facility in Midtown Shopping Center. I for one need to get to know this new business well over the coming months!
Thank you for being a part of the change that is happening in Northeast Kentucky. Your commitment and leadership is making a difference.
