It is Here!
What a wild and crazy week at the Ashland Alliance. Friday is nearly over and I just thought….I haven’t even started on my weekly report! I believe everyone knows that Monday is our Annual Dinner and it has been all-hands-on-deck in preparation for that. We are SOLD OUT!!!!!! We have twice the number of last year and have a great program with Governor Bevin and Craig Bouchard as featured speakers. I also get a chance to chime in with a yearly review. Let me say this, I have outlined my presentation and it is good. This has been a very good year for the Alliance and our community. And, the best is yet to come.
On top of that event, on Tuesday, the very next day, we have the largest holiday parade in all of Kentucky! Last year there was over 3600 people IN THE PARADE. Plan on coming out, the weather looks to be about perfect.
Back to the review of this past week: Monday morning started with a grand opening at FastSigns, located at 1613 Greenup Avenue. Monday night was one of my favorite nights of the year! Anytime you get to celebrate the start of the holiday season with a couple hundred of your closest friends in beautiful Central Park AND you get to light 850,000 LED lights….AND give Santa a ride in your convertible, it’s a great night to be in Ashland. Monday was the kickoff of Winter Wonderland of Lights in Central Park. The night was brisk and just perfect to celebrate the arrival of the season.
Tuesday, the Alliance celebrated the official ribbon cutting with Members Choice Credit Union at their new Bellefonte Hospital Branch. There was a great group of people gathered to open their newest facility and to celebrate thirteen new jobs in the area.
Wednesday, Kroger’s invited the Alliance to participate in their roll-out of the Clicklist Shopping Option at both of their local stores. This service is going to change the way you shop for groceries. Go online, pick what you want, same-day service delivered to your car... and you're off. The bonus; 30 new jobs for the area. All in all, a pretty cool way to make your life easier.
Wednesday the Alliance had the opportunity to partner with the City of Ashland, the Paramount Arts Center, and Boyd County Tourism in hosting some network television executives looking at the Paramount and Country Music Highway US 23. Stay tuned for what this could work out to be. We have so many talented country musicians from here and so much cultural heritage great things could come from highlighting who we are to the world.
I mentioned the Paramount and showing it off. I can’t think of a better time to highlight this gem than now. On Thursday, the Alliance partnered with DESCO Federal Credit Union for the one of the most widely anticipated Business After Hours of the year; the kick-off of the Festival of Trees and Trains. Over 300 people came out to hear the sounds and see the sights of the season. This year, there are several new things to see and experience with trains all over the lower section on the Paramount. It was a wonderful heartfelt evening in the center of our community.
Winter wonderland of lights is now underway! Santa’s Train is running in the park. Lights are shining, and the region is coming to Ashland to see the glory of the season. Many many thanks to the volunteers that make all of this possible.
What a great week to be in Northeast Kentucky. The season of thanks is here.
