Ashland Alliance

President’s Report - Feb 3, 2017

Time to Grow!

Thank you for the opportunity to share the first week of February with you,  our membership of the Alliance.  Our week started last Friday night in Frankfort at the Governor’s Mansion.  We were invited to participate in the Japanese American Society of Kentucky Reception.

This event celebrates the relationship between Kentucky and the Japanese business community.  It allowed us the chance to engage, understand, and build on the network of relationships needed in this global economy.  This is especially important now with our area’s  recent recruitment efforts of companies based in Japan.  The Ashland Alliance will be hosting one such company next week.

This week also highlighted how important it is to support our existing companies.  I had the pleasure to tour Liebert Industries in Ironton, OH.  Liebert has been an Alliance member since locating in the Ironton Facility.  Currently, they have 394 employees from the Tri-State area producing high-quality refrigeration equipment for industrial customers in the data center industry.  My time with Liebert allowed me to find the areas that the Alliance could help their business.  This is a core premise of value for our members. It also highlights how our Tri-State is linked.  I saw many friendly faces that I knew working at this fine facility.

Another point that was stressed at Liebert was how programs in Leadership play a key role in our region.  I spoke to senior management that had attended our Community Leadership Program and now one of the children of their staff was preparing to go to Frankfort with our Youth Leadership class.  These programs feed our business and industry with talent.  Talent will always be the best incentive an area can offer.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and your business.  We are seeking ways, with your help and guidance,  to strengthen our regional economy and provide employment opportunities.  The work of our staff, board of directors, membership and partners has the power to assist you and your business reach your goals and objectives.  As always we appreciate and ask for your invitation to work with and assist you.

Only one more month to Spring!  Time to grow….
