Ashland Alliance

President’s Report - Feb 10, 2017

Promoting our region!

Thank you for the opportunity to share a busy week here at the Alliance. Our week started Sunday during the Super Bowl. The Alliance hosted a site visit with clients from Osaka, Japan. Our clients flew into Huntington, after 24 hours of travel and our duties as host and presenter began. Monday of this week, the Alliance, along with our partners, hosted this potential company for a marathon day of 13 hours, highlighting nearly all aspects of the region and the support systems for their company. Many thanks go out to our partners that hosted, presented and showed why our region is a great place for business.

On Tuesday, left for a recruiting trip with Kentucky Association for Economic Development, Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development and One East Kentucky for a west coast marketing trip. The Alliance had the opportunity of presenting to three additional companies looking for site locations. These are active projects with real opportunity for job creation and investment. Even with recent reporting about our industrial parks and changing funding, we continue to place the region in front of creators of jobs and investment.

Our outreach with our partners and membership continues as well. Just this week we have reached out with educational partners and industry to help continue the conversation of creating the best possible workforce and training system anywhere in this state and nation. These systems go a long ways with clients like we hosted this week and marketed to on the West Coast. This, along with the competitive advantage of location, cost of doing business and qualified workforce gives us the tools we need moving forward.

Next week will be a busy one as well, Community Leadership Development hosts its first organizational meeting. Youth Leadership has one the best sessions of the year in their visit to Frankfort and the Capitol. Both programs are seeking to prepare our future leaders for their role in our development.

We appreciate you and your business. Please let us know how we can serve you. Understanding your business is the single best way we can stay connected and provided you the serve and value you deserve. If we haven’t been to your business lately please use the provided link to reach out and schedule an appointment. As always thank you for the opportunity to help lead the Alliance and grow our community.
