One week from Christmas… I hope everyone is ready to spend the holidays with their families. This season there has been a renewed awareness of our local shops and stores and their unique offerings of gifts. Our partnership with Ashland in Motion and the Shop Local Shop Small campaign has been a wonderful bonus for our business community.
This entire holiday season has been rewarding for the Alliance and its many friends and partners. Our Young Professionals Association brought attention and much needed food to River Cities Harvest with their Food Feud. Winter Wonderland of Lights brought the holidays to thousands of children in the region and our Business After Hours let our business community celebrate and network throughout the holidays. Thank you for doing your part to make this season special.
Our work continues during the holidays as well. The Alliance helped arrange a conversation with AK Steel Management this week. Bringing together local officials and business is one of our primary functions as your partner. We remain committed to helping AK in any way possible to position this facility for a restart of the blast furnace and the jobs it represents. I would be remiss if I didn’t say thank you to our local, state and federal elected officials and their staff members for the work that has gone into making sure main street America and Ashland’s voices are heard about the impact of unfair foreign steel in America.
Thank you from the staff of the Alliance for entrusting us to help build a strong economy for our region. We look forward to build on our relationships and partnerships in the coming year. It is our honor to work with each one of you and your businesses.
