WORTHINGTON, Ky. — Local executives and politicians — along with businessmen from as far away as Denmark — gathered at the headquarters of Portable Solutions Group on Tuesday night.
The company hosted an open house highlighted by tours of the facility and speeches by Portable Solutions owner Robert Slagel, and Braidy Industries President and CEO Craig Bouchard.
The top floor of the Portable Solutions building was brimming as guests mingled over shrimp and drinks.
Slagel said the purpose of the open house was to let neighbors socialize during an exciting time for the region. He thanked the guests, including those who traveled thousands of miles.
“Why in the world do we have people from Fargo (North Dakota) and from Denmark, that have projects all over Europe, coming to Worthington, Kentucky? It’s because we have something to offer. We have something to offer to the world,” said Slagel.
Slagel said the area has been underadvertised for decades, but that time has changed. Slagel’s company has grown into an international provider of modified shipping containers, and employs about 100 workers at its 50,000-square-foot building.
Bouchard provided an update to the crowd on the progress of Braidy Industries, which plans to build a $1.3 billion aluminum rolling mill at the EastPark Industrial Center.
